About
Mr. Pribonic is a highly experienced and well recognized professional engineer in the Amusement Industry. He possesses over 30 years of experience in engineering and project management on some of the world’s largest and most technically complex construction projects. He has a broad range of experience in different industries which has given him a unique knowledge base.
Before beginning his own firm, he was Sr. Facility Design Manager for Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, CA. where he was responsible for design of new Disney Theme Park facilities from concept through construction. Prior to that he was Manager of Engineering and Architecture at Disneyland, managing a multi-disciplined organization of sixty architects and engineers in support of all park operations, maintenance and new construction.
In 1992 he established his own consulting firm, Edward M. Pribonic, P.E., Inc. where for the past 25 years he has utilized his expertise in support of parks and ride manufacturers. Throughout his career he has been involved with Codes and Standards development, and amusement litigation and legislation.
Mr. Pribonic’s experience in ride design and maintenance is extensive, and includes vehicle and system design for high speed coasters, monorails, thrill rides, tramways, simulators, zip lines and several water flume rides
Today, he consults to the world’s largest theme parks, and ride manufacturers on Project Management, Vendor selection, contracting, and equipment designs. He is also frequently retained as an expert witness by legal counsel on matters of amusement rides and park design, and for 30 years has been a member of ASTM F-24 committee which writes the U.S. standards for amusement rides and devices.
Expert in the Industry
An expert in the industry, he provides ride safety inspections to parks around the country. He has been a Certified Amusement Ride Safety Inspector of the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials (NAARSO) and has been certified separately in the states of California, Florida and Texas.
During his tenure as Manager of Engineering at Disneyland, Mr. Pribonic was responsible for all engineering issues for major rides systems such as Star Tours and Indiana Jones. As pioneering installations, many first time issues such as actuator life expectancy, fatigue failures of motion bases and cabins, seat belt reliability, on board systems failures, and special facility requirements were met, and eventually overcome. These lessons became the basis for advancing the technology for future generations of equipment with greater capabilities and reliability.
Mr. Pribonic’s experience in ride design and maintenance is extensive, and includes vehicle and system design for high speed coasters, monorails, thrill rides, tramways, zip lines and several flume rides. Ride safety modifications and upgrade redesigns were a major element of his responsibilities at Disneyland where he introduced advanced design approaches and sophisticated safety and manufacturing inspection processes.
